BRUCKNER: Symphony Nº 7 in E Major  (The 1947 Recording)
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, Eduard van Beinum Conductor

Eduard van Beinum recording the Bruckner 7th Symphony twice: the first in 1947 and the second in 1953.  We  decided to issue the 1947 session recording and remaster it. 78 rpm noise has been reduced and other intrusions have been eliminated. We chose to issue this wonderful Bruckner recording with our stereo effect process to expand the sonic stage. The 1953 recording is on p. 18 with other van Beinum Bruckner Symphony recordings.

La Grande Écurie de Versailles (Outdoor Music, Fanfares, Marches, Etc.)
Ensemble de Trompettes de la Cavalerie de Paris, Hunting Horns of the Rallye Louvarts de Paris
Ensemble of Wind Instruments and Drums
   Jean-François Paillard, Conductor
Music of Phillidor, Dampierre, Lully, and, yes, Molière!  The Conductor writes, "Of all the pomp of Versailles, it is the outdoor ceremonies that are the most exciting to the imagination; one thinks of the flawless ballet of the troops on parade, of the departure for the hunt, or of the concerts given from sumptuously decorated barges sailing upon the Grand Canal. The music for all these spectacles was the perquisite of the band of the Grande Écurie (Great Stable), composed of wind instruments, fifes, trumpets, and oboes (these last two terms designating the entire brass and woodwind families, covering all the registers from low to high), and percussion instruments -- drums and timpani." (J.F. Paillard)  This collection of music is very unique and has been carefully restored and transferred to CD.   Email us at HaydnHouse@comcast.net for complete listing of the 25 tracks.

MICHAEL HAYDN: Violin Concerto in A Major

   Arthur Grumiaux, violin and candenzas

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, Edo de Waart, Conductor

This previous release, outstanding in every way, has very been given the attention it truly deserves.  Arthur Grumiaux is splendid,, the backup by the Concertgebouw Orchestra is perfect, the sound and transfer is tops, and the music is superior.  Grumiaux would not have given both works any attention otherwise.  Do make this CD part of your collection.  You will be glad you did.
