OTAR TAKTAKISHVILI (1924 - 1989)
Following Rustaveli (Oratorio)

Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra & Chorus
Alexander Vedernikov, Bass
Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, Conductor
This is one of the rarest of the rare Melodya recordings.  Shota Rustaveli  (1172–1216) was a 12th-century Georgian poet.  The 20th century Georgian composer set ideas and word of this poet to music in the form of an oratorio. It is very unique, well performed and recorded.  Transfer was taken from a rare, but mint Melodya LP issued in 1969.   The nine track are: 1. Introduction; 2. You Are Here; 3. Jwari; 4. Vardzia; 5. Palestine; 6. Native Tongue; 7. Exile; 8. Tamara; 9. Rustavili Has Died Today. The chorus and soloist singing is even more than what one would expect. Do listen to the mp3 excerpt.

BRAHMS
Symphony Nº 1 in C minor, Op. 68
Tragic and Academic Festival Overtures

Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, Eduard van Beinum,Conductor
The question will not go away:  "Can they be performed ever again this way?"   Both hum and the chalky upper end  glare present in these early 1950's recordings have been removed.  All offered to you here with our stereo effect process.  Incomperable are Hubert Barwasher, flute;  Haakon Stotijn, oboe as well as the horn section  in  the generous mp3 excerpts.    This is "top shelf"  Brahms with the old Concertgebouw Orchesra.

Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, Eduard van Beinum,Conductor
While remastering these two Van Beinum recordings again, the question arose, "Can they be performed ever again this way?"  Van Beinum was one of the most informed conductors of the past century and being at the helm of this orchestra with its special sound could only result in these spectacular performances.  These are 'must have' recordings.  The 3rd is offered to you here with our stereo effect process and the 4th is in real stereo.

MOZART
Serenade for Orchestra Nº 9 in D major K. 320, “Posthorn”
Symphony No. 29 in A major, K. 201

Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, Eduard van Beinum,Conductor
This coupling of these two wonderful Mozart works is how they were originally issued on LP.  Both recordings are fine examples of how special the COA was during the mid past century.  The informed approach of the conductor with Mozart's music is brilliant throughout placing these recordings at the top of the list and offered here with our stereo effect to widen the sonic image.  If you can find better performed Mozart, please email us at Haydn House at HaydnHouse@comcast.net and let us know.

BRUCKNER: Symphony Nº 3 in D minor
Vienna Philharmonic, Hans Knappertsbusch,Conductor
Truly, one of the best performances ever recorded! This 1954 recording features the Schalk, Loewe Editon with the Vienna Philharmonic in all its incredible past sonic signature.  Poor tape splicing effects and other intrusions along with background hum were removed. We added our popular Stereo Effect to widen the localization and stage image somewhat.  Also, the abrasive upper end was tamed making the the recording all the more listenable.

Boston Symphony Orchestra, Serge Koussevitzky, conductor
We decided to remaster these superb performances with our STEREO EFFECT to obtain sound  that is somewhat up to date. As inour previous release the severe audio compression of the Sibelius 2nd has been reduced giving  the recording  sonic "punch".  The end result is very impressive from the Boston Symphony with its unique sonic signature in the acoustically perfect Symphony Hall more than one-half a century ago.   Please listen to the audio excerpt below.
